Young Superstars #40 - Cory Snyder

Do you ever see someone, and just from their picture you know you hate them and would like to punch them in the mouth? Maybe I'm a freak with a violent temper, but that's how this picture makes me feel about Cory Snyder. He has that 1980s wannabe badass hair cut and mustache and gold chains... I just wanna punch him.

I don't know a damn thing about him or his career, but I just want to hit him. I'm sorry, but I can't get over it. I'm sure he's a nice guy, and if he reads this, I apologize. But that picture just makes him look like an asshole.

Well, now that I've gotten that out of my system what can I say nice about Cory Snyder. He played for the 1984 silver medal winning United States baseball team at the Olympics and in 1993 he led NL batters with 143 strikeouts (oops).

Sorry Cory, I know you're not a bad guy...

I'm astounded. I'm flabbergasted. I can't believe the horrible, awful things that I just read about my man Cory. I don't even know what else to say. This is terrible.

It's not your fault. It's not your fault. It's not your fault. It's not your fault...

That's a weird photo on the back. It doesn't look like night, but rather it looks like they just blacked everything out by airbrush. There's a card in the update set that's like that--I can't remember if it's already been posted or if I wrote it but it posts this coming week. Anyway, another odd thing about the Snyder photo is that they airbrushed everything out except for a slight bit of shoulder of another guy on the left.

My enduring memory of James Cory Snyder is that I never understood why he wasn't a designated hitter. When he was sent out in the field, he seemed to always be carrying an iron skillet in his left hand instead of a baseball glove.

Man, Cory Snyder had a cannon arm!

That's why they put him out there ... so when he muffed one and the guy tried for two, he could pick it up and gun him down.

Ahh, the Tribe of the 80s, the Tribe of my youth ...
